When It’s All Falling Apart… and Coming Together at the Same Time

Have you ever had a season where everything seems to be crumbling — your plans, your motivation, your focus, your joy, your spark... your energy, your relationships, even your confidence — and yet, strangely, something in your heart and mind is whispering, “But look… this part is working. Something new is being built.”

It’s a strange space to be in — the in-between.

The place where you’re grieving what’s not working, what’s shifting, what’s being stripped away.  But also, quietly marveling at the things that are stable or beautifully falling into place… the doors that are opening, the fun ideas that emerge, creativity spending time with you, or even the peace that’s there despite the chaos.

And I sometimes think, is this feeling... this experience more common than we often admit? Are we all furiously paddling under the water like a duck on a still pond so to speak?

What This Really Means

When things are falling apart and coming together at the same time, it could potentially mean a transition is underway. You are not where you were, and you’re not yet where you’re going. You're somewhere in the middle — that stretch between pruning, coping and blooming.

And it leads me to keep this mindset "This is where growth happens".

What’s falling apart is often what can’t go with you into your next chapter — old thought patterns, expired assignments, relationships that no longer reflect where you’re headed.

What’s coming together is the new way — a refining of who you truly are, what you value, and how you're called to show up.  I was thinking tonight as I made dinner "WOW, if the things I experienced didn't happen there is no way I would have done many of the very cool things I have done since!"

How to Hold the Right Mindset

When you are living in the in-between space of breakdown and breakthrough, the mindset you carry can either anchor you or unravel you (or even both at the same time!). Here are a few truths to hold onto:

  • “This is not the end.”
Just because some things are breaking doesn’t mean everything is broken. Trust that this chapter is part of a bigger story still unfolding.

  • “Release the old to receive the new.”
Letting go is hard. But sometimes your hands have to be empty before they can be filled with something better.

  • “Celebrate what is working.”
It might feel like everything is falling apart — but if you look closely, something is blooming. A friendship deepening. A dream reviving. A door opening. Hold gratitude for even the smallest flickers of light.

  • “Rest in the process.”
You don’t have to force it all to make sense. You don’t need to fix what’s unravelling. Sometimes, the kindest thing you can do for your soul is to breathe, trust, and keep showing up.

  • “Stay aligned, not attached.”
Keep your heart aligned with your values, your calling, and your peace — not your plans or expectations. That’s how you stay open to divine redirection.

  • “Thoughts are not things.”
Not every thought that enters your mind is true, helpful, or permanent. You are not your thoughts — you are the observer of them. Let the anxious ones pass like clouds in the sky.

Final Thought

You are not falling apart.
Your life is not in ruins.
Good things are happening!
It may feel messy.
It may feel like loss.
But it’s also the beginning of something more true, more beautiful, more you.

So, walk gently through this season, with open hands and a grounded heart.
Let what’s meant to fall, fall.
Let what’s meant to rise, rise.
And know this: what’s meant for you is already finding its way.

Oh, and consider reading my E-Book Changing Trains of Thought or even my Recovery Journal which I have kept at 50% off so they are next to nothing in cost really.

Ok, Bye for now!
