Kia ora and welcome! I’m Kylie Welch - a children’s book author, storyteller, and creative heart based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Inspired by the everyday moments of life, I write books that blend real-life lessons with wonder, warmth, and a lot of adorable fun. Whether I’m exploring themes like friendship, courage, nature, grief and loss or emotional growth, my stories are rooted in truth and told with love.

I believe that stories have the power to shape us. They can stay with us for years after reading them. Stories that we read can teach, comfort, inspire and help us make sense of the world around us. Many of my books are sparked by real-life experiences – from a rescued baby hedgehog to the true-life story of my dearly missed doggie Ella-Mae, or simply the rhythm of seasons in My Kiwi Garden. I pour these personal moments into pages that are complimented with incredible illustrations from SK Artista and Claudia Vaieira.

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me in my garden, walking my dogs Minnie and Nyah, or singing and playing my guitar or simply daydreaming while I dream up new ideas.
