Have You Been Judged Without a Voice?
By Kylie Welch | www.kyliewelch.co.nz
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is speak up—especially when life has tried to silence you.
I want to talk about something tender today. Something many of us have experienced but rarely talk about.
Being judged without a voice.
Over the years, I’ve learned that when I walk through something painful, I carry it deeply and I then write about it. I turn it into words. Into lessons. Into stories that help me process the lesson with the hope of helping others find their way forward in the same situation. Writing has become the way I process my challenges, and more importantly, the way I offer the warmth of what many of us yearn for:
Understanding, Comfort, Trust & Support.
It’s one thing to be misunderstood. It’s another thing entirely when people don’t come to you to ask for your side. When people decide what happened based on whispers, assumptions, or half a story—and never come to you with, “I know you. This doesn’t sound like you. Tell me what happened.”
That silence hurts more than the judgment itself. Because it’s not just your actions being questioned—it’s your character. Your heart.
But here's what I’ve come to realise:
That kind of pain can either harm you or build you. I’ve chosen to let it build me.
It’s why I write the way I do. It's why I pour myself into stories that reflect the beauty of compassion, curiosity, and grace. It's my voice.
Whether I’m writing children’s books adults books born from life’s honest moments, my heart is the same:
- To help others feel seen
- To remind people that there’s always more to the story
-
And to encourage a kinder, more thoughtful world.
If you’ve ever felt judged without a voice, let me speak this over you:
You are not what they assumed.
You are not the story they told.
You are still worthy, still called, still deeply known by the One who sees it all.
I see you...
Keep using your voice—softly, boldly, truthfully.
The world needs it. And so do the ones who will listen.
To learn more, you can find all my books—both for adults and kids—on my website www.kyliewelch.co.nz, each one crafted with purpose and a deep desire to lift others up.
I believe every word we write or speak has the power to be a seed of healing in someone else’s life.
With love,
Kylie
